Culinary Pavilion

Entry into the Culinary Pavilion is free for all festival ticket holders, so come along and be inspired! We are delighted to be partnered with our key culinary sponsors including Cloudy Bay Clams, Regal Marlborough King Salmon and Kono & Kiwa Oysters

Entry into the Culinary Pavilion is free for all festival ticket holders, so come along and be inspired! We are delighted to be partnered with our key Culinary Partners including Regal Marlborough King Salmon, Electrolux NZ, Cloudy Bay Clams, Kono and Kiwa Oysters. There will be cooking demonstrations from the country’s hottest chefs throughout the day to provide you with endless inspiration for entertaining family and friends. Meet the chefs, ask questions and watch them cook live in the Electrolux Kitchen housed within the Culinary Pavilion. If you’re lucky enough, you may be able to taste the dishes and the fresh, delicious regional fare Marlborough is renowned for.

Liz Buttimore - MC of the Culinary Pavilion

 

Liz Buttimore has spent her career in luxury accommodation and restaurants, gaining two hats, Gourmet Traveller stars and numerous hospitality awards in Australia with chef partner, Bradley Hornby. Liz is the Marlborough/Kaikoura branch president for the Restaurant Association of New Zealand and her background is in hospitality management, in particular customer service, marketing and financial planning.

 

Annabelle White

Annabelle White is a New Zealand food writer and author of eleven cookbooks. She was a long time food columnist for the Sunday Star-Times and also wrote the popular Food Detective column. Annabelle was born and raised in New Zealand and while she does not have formal chef’s training her love of “great honest cooking” came from watching her mother cook every day after school. Annabelle’s extensive travels continue to be a great motivating factor in appreciating the global kitchen and learning about good food. Annabelle was a long time food columnist for the Sunday Star-Times and also wrote the popular Food Detective column. She is the former food editor for NZ House & Garden and the New Zealand Women’s Weekly. She is now devoting her efforts to her website.

 

Bradley Hornby 

Having spent his career in luxury accommodation and restaurants and gaining two Hats, Gourmet Traveller stars and numerous hospitality awards in Australia, South Island born and trained chef Bradley Hornby has finally moved ‘home’. His food style combines traditional French cookery methods and modern technology with a focus on locally sourced Marlborough and New Zealand seasonal produce. “I believe modern dining is about flavour and relaxation. The world is fast paced and I want you to be able to take a moment to switch off and enjoy yourselves.”

 

Monty Koludrovic

Monty was raised on the far north of NSW in a household full of activity, sport, culture and food.... glorious food. After working in various parts of the TV industry and consulting projects, Monty undertook his position where he currently resides at the helm of Iconic Icebergs Dining Room and Bar over Bondi Beach. Monty and his team have recently been awarded, and retained, 2 Chefs Hats in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2017, and are enjoying another exciting year in Bondi. Monty also now oversees the kitchens at The Dolphin Hotel in Surry Hills, which was also awarded 1 Chefs Hat in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2017 after just 3 months.

 

Mark Southon 

After training at many Michelin star restaurants in Europe, Mark Southon embarked on his culinary tour down under. From there, he landed a prestigious position at Vue de Monde - Australia's top restaurant for the past two years running. He then fell in love with our shores and has continued his illustrious career in NZ. Head chef at the Foodstore restaurant for the last five years, he and his team have produced amazing dishes with only the finest New Zealand produce on offer. Now at the helm of the iconic O’Connell Street Bistro a new challenge begins.  

 

Karena & Kasey Bird

Kasey and Karena are sisters from the small coastal village of Maketu in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, and were the winners of Masterchef New Zealand 2014. They have just won the "Best TV Cookbook in the World" at the Gourmand World Cookbook awards 2016 with their self-published cookbook “For The Love Of..." and have recently launched their new cookbook “Hungry”. You may have watched them on their TV show 'Karena and Kasey's Kitchen Diplomacy' where they travelled the world discovering different cultures and food. They are also food writers for 'The Herald on Sunday' as well as the food editors for Mana Magazine.
