Fashion in the Vines

New Zealand’s original wine festival, the Marlborough Wine Festival showcases the very best of New Zealand wine, food, music and now fashion.

Fashion in the Vines invites you to express your creativity with haute couture or classic chic and enter the competition for the best dressed male and female at the festival. 

 

 

FASHION IN THE VINES JUDGES

Kathryn Wilson Shoe Designer

Kathryn Wilson

Kathryn Wilson is New Zealand's premier footwear designer.  After studying footwear design internationally Kathryn

returned to New Zealand to start her own label.  Kathyrn continues to deliver beautifully simple collections and her designs

are worn all over the world.  Kathryn delivered a stunning catwalk debut show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2011 and

will also launched a diffusion line called "Miss Wilson" in 2011.

 

 

 

 

James Harrison

Inspired by fashion his whole life, James has a background in the clothing wholesale business and after 12 years has

worked his way up, to now be overseeing and managing one of New Zealand largest and most successful fashion

importing and distribution companies. Working with Brand such as Diesel, Scotch & Soda, Miss Sixty and Energie, he obviously has an eye for what’s hot and what’s not.

 

 

Mark Hammond

Mark Hammond has been in the clothing Industry for 20 years. Starting off in retail and then to progressing to a Sales Manager role, where he has gained valuable experience in all facets of the Industry. Over the years Mark has dealt with leading international and New Zealand fashion labels.  He is passionate about the clothing industry and brings a wealth of experience to the judging panel.

How to enter - It’s easy! 

  • Plan your outfit, keeping in mind the judging criteria.
  • Dress up and turn up at the festival site by 11:30am on the 11th February
  • Entry is free! Either enter in advance by completeing the entry form above now and faxing back or fill in enter on the day
  • Stand before a panel of judges and then appear on stage as a group before the finalists are announced

How many winners are there?

There will an overall winner who will take home the prize pack, plus runner up prizes. More prize information coming soon..

How do I enter Fashion in the Vines?

You can either enter online or fill in a form on the day.

To enter online, fill in the entry form and fax to 03 577 9298 prior to the 12th February, or bring it with you on Festival day

To enter on the day, go to the Fashion in the Vines Judging Area, as detailed on the map that you’ll receive when you enter the festival site, and complete a registration form

What time do I have to be at the Judging Area?

Judging will start at 12:00.  If you are planning to register on the day, please arrive from 11:30, allowing enough time for you to fill in the required forms.

How does the judging process work?

Judging will happen in a set area away from public view between 12 and 12:30.  At 12:30 all contestants will walk to the main stage with the judges where they will stand for everyone to see.  A shortlist of finalists for both male and female will be read out.  These finalists will step forward and the winners and runners up will be announced.

What will I be judged on?

  • Style and originality of the outfit
  • Appropriateness of attire for the Marlborough Wine Festival
  • Appropriateness of accessories
  • Suitability of outfit to climate
  • Grooming and deportment

Can I enter if I am 17?

No, contestants must be 18 years of age or over on the 12th February 2010.

Contestant Criteria

  • Contestants must be over 18 years of age to enter
  • Contestants and/or their outfits are not permitted to promote commercially a brand, be it a wine brand, wine accessories, or otherwise

Judging Criteria

Contestants will be judged on the following criteria

  • Style and originality of the outfit
  • Appropriateness of attire for the Marlborough Wine Festival
  • Appropriateness of accessories
  • Suitability of outfit to climate
  • Grooming and deportment

Terms and conditions

  • Contestants must be over 18 years of age to enter
  • Contestants and/or their outfits are not permitted to promote commercially a brand, be it a wine brand, wine accessories, or otherwise
  • Prizes can not be exchanged for the equivalent monetary value
  • The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into
  • Contestants agree to the use of competition photography by Wine Marlborough Ltd in future Festival promotion
